Minister of the Evangelical Lutheran Church since 1982. Founder member of the Soweto Parents Crisis Committee. Served more than two years as a State of Emergency Detainee between 1986 and 1988. Before assuming the post of SACC GS, he was a former Consultant to the Premier of the Government of the North West Province of South Africa and served as Executive Director in the SACC sub-unit of Ecumenical Service for Socio-Economic Transformation (ESSET).

Violence, Fundamental Barrier to Women's Emancipation:
Men and boys need help to learn not to bash women, says the Medical Research Council (MRC) on International Women's Day today. According to the MRC, men's violence against women is a fundamental barrier to women's health and gender equality.According to a study conducted in 1999, one in four women are victims of abuse, while 25 percent of women in South Africa are in violent relationships.
